I've heard one too many people talk up these things. I gotta have one. What type or model or whatever do I really want, and what are the price ranges. what options will I want. tips, etc. Who sells it for the best price. etc. Thanks! ------------------ |

I highly recommend variable-speed Model 395 or 398 instead of the one or two speed models. The list of bits for these is endless; they're cheap, so you can buy a grab-bag assortment of drills, stones, sanders and so on for about $20. Lowe's Home Improvement warehouse has good prices on them; I expect most any tool/hardware chain would be competitive. ------------------ |

I picked up a rotary tool at my local Harbor Freight tool co. I think it was around $25. It comes with a bit set and has veriable speed. It's highest rpm setting is a little under the Dremmel's that I was looking at but that hasn't been a problem. At about half the price I thought it was a good deal. ------------------ |

I use a variable speed unit, but rarely goose it up past the lowest setting. Those thin brown disks can really raise a welt when they let go! Wear glasses. Byron ------------------ |

I got my first one at a pawn shop, second at Lowes with a flexi shaft(don't use it much but it is really handy for detail work like removing ear wax) Sander drums and accessories go on sale at Sears several times during the year. Wear Glasses!, Wear Glasses!, Wear Glasses.......! Matt ------------------ |
