Ok... I'm thinking that the RJ Hedley back pocket holster is THE perfect way to carry my P32, but before I order, I have to make sure I get the right one... I'm a leftie, but I can't get used to carrying my wallet anywhere else, so I'm going to try and use the P32 as a strictly off-handed pistol, leaving my primary weapon (Kahr P9) on my strong (left) side. So if I carry the holster in my right rear pocket, and reach back to retrieve the pistol, which way should my palm be pointing? Which way is the grip of the pistol pointing? I assume that the pistol would not be retrieved in the conventional "palm toward your body" style... Thanks for your help. ------------------ |

Hedley back pocket holsters are designed for the anti-print panel to be outward so when you draw, your palm is toward the body. I think RJ has made holsters where the palm is toward the anti-print panel but you would have to specify that when ordering. RJ could tell you more about it if you email him or now he has a messge board on his web site and you could leave a message there so when he answered all of us could read it. ------------------ |

Waltherpfive is correct on everything. Hedley's web site is http://www.hedleyholsters.com I have a P-32 back pocket holster which is top notch. I just ordered a holster from him for my Autauga .32. It is not advertised on his site but he makes them. He will tailor the holster to your needs if you ask him. Some of the holster pictures on his site specify if they are right or left hand. Take a look at them so you can see how they would work for you. ------------------ |

Thanks guys... I posted on Hedley's board, along with what I think is a better description of what I was trying to ask. Hedley's BBS is pretty new, (read that not used much) and I'm really anxious to purchase my holster from Hedley, so if anyone else wants to try and explain to me on this board how you draw the weapon, if you remove the holster/gun altogether from your pocket and then draw, or if the holster stays in the pocket, which way the grip points while in pocket, etc... I would CERTAINLY appreciate it...
Thanks ------------------ [This message has been edited by Onslaught (edited March 07, 2001).] |

The back pocket holster is designed to make it easy to draw the gun with the holster in your pocket. Hard to explain but the part of the holster that actually holds the gun is connected to the anti-print panel at the bottom part of the holster and when you stick your hand in your back pocket, your fingers can go between the panel and the holster to grab the gun easier. Now if your pants are real tight, it may not work as well but it is a superior design than most of these holsters. Of course, you can also pull it out of your pocket if you want to. Maybe someone else can give a better explanation than I did. ------------------ |

Yeah, but you guys did help... you got me to the board! I asked them to verify one more thing for me... then I'm placing my order. Actually though, if one of you guys didn't mind trying this too, and let me know if it works... Put your holster in the OTHER pocket, with the panel still facing out, and reach with the hand on the same side the holster now resides in, hand facing palm away from body, grab the gun with your fingers and pull it out. Did it come out easy? Did the holster stay in the pocket? I'm thinking, if it does work that way, I'll be able to use it for either pocket depending on what else I'm carrying. Thanks again for your help. ------------------ |

Ok, I took my right hand back pocket holster and put it in the left back pocket with the panel out. I can still draw the gun easily and the gun stayed in the pocket. The only thing is it didn't feel natural to turn my hand that way. I hope this helps. ------------------ |

Now I want you to put your right hand holster into your left pocket, upside down, panel side in, and draw with your right hand. How does that work? ------------------ |

Okay, I know I gave you guys a hard time, but I wanted to follow up with a big THANKS for your effort, and to let you know how it went... I placed my online order of a left handed Hedley BP on Friday, 3/9... I mailed the money order on Monday, 3/12. The holster arrived at my doorstep on Friday, 3/16! I did notice that in Levi's, it sits too close to the top, and you can see the pistol. But I'm phasing out Levi's anyway, since it was pointed out to me how Anti-Gun they are... In my Old Navy jeans, it fits like a champ. I've "remembered" twice today that I had it in there, because I keep COMPLETELY forgetting it's back there... This thing works as advertised, from either pocket (as I was bugging you guys about) and I'm happy. I'll be ordering one from JT for my dad's High-Standard .22 magnum Derringer in the very near future... Thanks again, and THANKS JT!!! ------------------ |
