Well, sorry you have to hear me whine, but...

I'm packing up my new hard chrome P32 and shipping in back to Kel Tec today. In 350 rounds, using Blazer, UMC, and Silvertips, I've had:

4 light primer strikes (all Blazer)
1 failure to extract (Blazer)
23 failures to feed (all brands, UMC worst, Silvertips best)

Sat, I did the fluff-N-buff, and even corrected some of the questionable machine work that was done on the slide. Cycling by hand felt better, but yesterday I had 3 failures to feed in about 40 rounds of Silvertips.

For the record, this is my second P32. I bought the first one (sn 10XXX) about a year ago, and sold it when I got irritated with all the problems it had. After reading pretty good reports recently, and knowing just how easy it is to carry one of these things, I decided to try a recent vintage hard chrome model. The new one is in the 30XXX SN range, and actually looks to be better quality than the first one I had. Alas, it doesn't work any better. I'm optimistic that Kel Tec will fix this for me, but if they know how to fix the problems, why don't they do it right in the first place? I guess that's the part that irritates me the most. I imagine they're trying to keep the cost down, but I'd much rather pay $50 more for the gun, than have to roll the dice to find out if it's going to work.

OK, I'm done now. Thanks for listening.

You should have no problems with your P-32. I have over 1200 rounds through mine and it works perfectly. Aside from the hard chrome, the only thing I have done was to install the Wolff +10% magazine spring. Anyway, your gun should not malfunction at all. Send it back to KT, talk to Cliff.

Thanks for the note Mike. I sent the gun off yesterday with a detailed letter, so they should have it today. I also admitted to all the polishing, and told them to let me know if they felt I had done anything to violate my warranty. I'll post updates here as they occur.

Cheers,
Rusty

rv8 - I have had similar experience to yours. See my comment on the "buying one today" thread.

Well, exactly one week after I sent the gun to Kel Tec, it returned. The work order says "replaced internal parts, test fired". Not the most desctiptive work order, but I won't care if it works. It looks like they probably changed the extractor, and I believe they put a stronger trigger spring(?) in it for the light primer strikes. It also appears that they improved on my feed ramp polishing job. It doesn't seem to have any problems hand cycling Silvertips, so hopefully I'll be a happy guy when I get to try it out this weekend. I promise a report.

Well, good news, bad news from the range on my repaired P32. The bad news is that I had 12 failures in 50 rounds of Silvertips. The good news is that they were all the same type of failure, and I hope it will be easy to fix. In every case, the slide locked back when the mag wasn't empty. FWIW, I had the same problem with both of my mags. I'll give Kel Tec a call, but I don't see any way to fix this other than grinding a little off the end of the slide lock tab where it touches the follower. Worst case would be that I go too far and have it never lock back, but even that would be much preferable to having it lock back for no reason.

Any other suggestions?

Stay tuned,

Can't believe your luck. I had one jam and it was caused when the slide pin backed out during firing. I pushed it back and have never had another jam since. I figured I hadn't seated it correctly on the initial cleaning. Is there a dark cloud over your head?
