Anyone had to use their P32 in self-defense yet? Even just to show it, to discourage BG? Or to backup your regular carry? Just curious, as I've heard other stories of Glocks, S&W, Sig being used like that.

No, but I did have to defend spending money on another gun.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Just got mine and sent it back for chrome.

Good question!

Actually I haven't heard a single case of the current generation of 32acp mouse guns being used to save the owner. All the old one shot stop stats come from much larger Walthers and SIGs.

I hope we get some street results soon, or I think I'll be forced to move to a larger back-up caliber.

Well I haven't shot at anyone, but I did have it on me for the very reason I bought it last Saturday and was glad I did. I bought it for a "always" carry gun.
I was sitting in my den recliner about 9:30 at night and had my inner front door open as I have a wrought iron deadbolt storm door on the outside. Out of the blue there was a knock on the door and when I answered, I found a rather scruffy young man I had never seen before. Of course, I didn't open the door between us. It seemed he had run out of gas in my cove and wanted to know if I had some or a gas can. (his car was beached out in the cove with its blinkers on) I thought about telling him to buzz off, but he didn't set off my alarms. I told him quite firmly to "GO GET IN HIS CAR AND I WOULD PUT A FULL GAS CAN AT THE END OF MY DRIVEWAY. DON'T GET OUT OF THE CAR UNTIL YOU SEE ME GO BACK IN THE HOUSE OR MY WIFE WILL CALL THE POLICE." I also told him to leave the can back at the end of the driveway and I'd get it later. He seemed startled by my directness, but said ok and complied. And I still didn't have that alarming feel off him and it all went well. Mind you now, I kept both eyes peeled for any confederates lurking and my wife had retreived her small stocked 20 ga. and cell phone and was watching through the blinds the whole time.
But that P32 felt REAL good in the front pocket.

Nice to have a pistol that can always be there, hunh, Perklo027? I don't know, I think it's a sad comment on society when you are afraid to help someone out that needs it, for fear of getting robbed, or worse. :( .

*Sigh*, exactly how I feel about things. However, if I followed safety practices to the letter, I probably wouldn't have helped at all. I refuse to let the bad guys rule my life, which is one reason I have a carry permit. While I don't let carrying a gun give me a macho invunerable feeling, I have an attitude that says three things:
1) I REFUSE to be a victim.

2) I won't let bad people keep me from doing good things.

3) This is my city and neighborhood, not the bad guys. The honest, hard working Joes make the rules, not a bunch o' punks.

I won't cower in my house at night. I will live my life like the outside world is a good, decent place, but be ready for the rare baddy.

Anything else and the bad guys win. I had better get on topic again however, before the moderator spanks me.

All this talk about >32ACP being underpowered: How come it was plenty good enough for Bogart, Cagney and Robinson?

I hear ya! European police used the .32 for years in PP's etc. We all know a .32 Auto ain't a laser death ray, but just between you and me, I don't want shot by one. Just my own feelings, but it has two major advantages over say a .22.
One - Intimidation factor - that .32 hole in the muzzle will attract a whole lot more of a bad guys attention than the business end of a .22.
Two - It will open up quite a lot bigger wound channel than a .22, without over penetrating.
All that being said, I have a whole bunch of handguns I'd rather bring to a gunfight, but the P32 is the only one that can be there all the time. And some of the other guns I've owned in the past weren't much larger, the P32's big advantage is in weight. My AMT .380 Back-up wasn't much bigger but it was thicker and weighed more than double the P32. The P32 holds 2 more rounds as well. You can slip yer P32 in your front pants pocket and literally forget it is there! The only other gun I can say that for was a NAA mini-revolver in .22 mag, but the P32's got a 5 shot SA revolver beat all the way in firepower.
